Cockatoo Accessories

These accessories are designed for inside or outside the cage. Many different sizes, styles and colours are available to suit all Cockatoo species.

Some accessories are arguably more important than others. For example, UV light is very important because it allows a Cockatoo to synthesise Vitamin D3 through their skin or preening gland, which in turn allows them to produce calcium that they need for strong bones and beak.

Having the right perch is important too because walking across the varying diameters and textures of these perches helps feet to stay well exercised and in good condition.

Feeding dishes are a vital Cockatoo accessory. Although they should always be encouraged to find food from a foraging toy, they’ll still need to have part of their next meal in a food bowl too, for when they don’t feel like foraging.

Away from the cage, Cockatoos can rest their feet and body on a Parrot stand. Most stands have perches and places to hang toys from them.

Cockatoos can enjoy relaxing in a hideaway, ready to order in a tent, blanket or tube style.

Customers can keep their Cockatoo and the equipment they use clean with sand and sanded sheets or cleaning products and disinfectant. Sheets collect the mess a Cockatoo drops in their cage, whilst cleaning products, in the form of wipes, brushes and sprays, clean the equipment, and misters and baths clean the Cockatoo themselves.

Teaching a Cockatoo to fly in a Parrot harness improves their self-confidence, gives their IQ a boost and helps a bird become more co-ordinated. Training sessions get even more productive when a training clicker is involved.

Weighing a Cockatoo regularly on scales allows customers to keep track of their Cockatoo’s weight. Increases or decreases in weight can be the first signs of illness.
