Perches come in a variety of lengths, diameters, textures and materials. Walking across the different textures helps to keep feet well exercised and in good condition.

Many stands come fitted with perches already, along with spaces to hang toys and feeders. These give Meyers or Senegals an alternative place to rest.

There should be some food inside the feeders and any other feeding dishes that may be available. That’s just in case a Meyer’s or Senegal tires of foraging for food inside toys.

Encourage customers to drape cage covers or position UV lights over their bird’s cage. Having the correct amount of UV light allows Parrots to synthesise Vitamin D3 through their skin or preening gland, which they then use to produce calcium and build strong bones and beak.

Parrots might like to take their sleep inside a hideaway. Different styles of hideaway are available, like hut, blanket and cardboard tube.

During the daytime customers can enjoy taking their bird out in a harness. Learning to fly in a harness helps them to become fitter, more intelligent and better co-ordinated.

For longer journeys a travel cage may be more practical. These have all the fantastic features that a regular sized cage does.

Sand and sanded paper collects any mess the Meyer’s or Senegal makes at the bottom of the cage. Other cleaning products and disinfectant quickly and effectively destroy any mess or bacteria inside the cage.

Training clickers are good to use during any training sessions.

One of the things that the publications could teach you is the importance of regular bathtimes to keep plumage lovely and clean. Washing a Meyer’s or Senegal Parrot in a Parrot bath or spraying them with the misters remove any dirt or grime that has built up on them.
