All Parrots need regular amounts of UV light in order to synthesise Vitamin D3. The D3 then allows them to produce calcium using a special process in their preening gland or through their skin. Calcium is used to build strong bones and beak.

A way to get the level of darkness they require is with a hideaway. Parrots like to retreat to these whenever they feel scared or threatened.

Perches for Amazon Parrots come in different diameters, textures and lengths to suit every species of Amazon Parrot.

Another place for Amazons to rest on, other than perches, is with a Parrot stand. These stands let customers take their Parrot with them around their home.

But if customers are taking their Parrot out of the house then a travel cage could be the answer. These have all the features a regular cage needs, like a perch and feeders, to allow Amazon Parrots to travel in comfort.

Although Amazons should always be encouraged to find their food from foraging toys they need to have access to food in feeding dishes as well. Many dishes fasten securely onto cages to prevent Amazons from tipping it up.
